President's Message
It was always a pleasure to get together with fellow graduates and reminisce about the good old student days. We all enjoy swapping anecdotes and laughing at the lighter experiences we had. Nevertheless, Sarawak Alumni of the University of Adelaide (SAUA) is more a community of like-minded colleagues. Through this network, members should have access to the support of the Association and its members. Networking will be a crucial factor for members to maximise their potential in all spheres of the broader society, both social and entrepreneurial. The formation of this association is most appropriate in that it is not only a recognition of the excellent education received by its members but also as a form of expression of their gratefulness of their alma mater for shaping their lives. Equally important is the role that SAUA will play as the reference point for both undergraduates and fresh graduates, as they embark on their careers and enter professional life. `Veteran' SAUA members should see themselves as mentors as to those who need that initial contact to set them on their respective journeys. Mindful of our privileged position as graduates, we must reach out to all levels of Malaysian society. As the adage goes, "with privileged comes responsibility". The greater the privilege, the greater the responsibility. It is important for us to inspire each other all those whom our lives affect, to become principled quality citizens of Malaysia. I am fully confident that our Association will achieve great success in promoting interaction, goodwill, and knowledge among the graduates of the University of Adelaide, either in Sarawak or elsewhere. I would like to appeal to the Sarawak graduates of this University to render their full support by enrolling as a member of the association and also by active participation in the activities that have been lined up. In short, we must give meaning and purpose to our endeavour. And 1 know we will achieve this excellently through SAUA.
