ORGANISING CHAIRMAN AND EDITOR

I extend warm greeting to you on behalf of the Launching Organising Committee of the Sarawak Alumni of the University of Adelaide (SAUA) on this auspicious occasion. Occasion such as this provide opportunities to reminisce and reflect about the experiences we shared, albeit many years apart. I hope that this occasion will serve as one more memory and reflection you will carry with you of your experiences with the University of Adelaide.

This Association has been approved recently by the University of Adelaide to become the fifth international chapter of the University's Alumni Association. The other international chapters are Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong and London. SAUA has also been formally approved by the Registrar of Society Malaysia as an Association.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to our distinguished President, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Abdul Taib Bin Mahmud, for initiating the formation of this Association and for the enthusiastic support and aspiration. My sincere gratitude also go to the Deputy President of SAUA, Dato Sri Haji Adenan Haji Satem for the valuable encouragement and contribution. My genuine appreciation extend to the University of Adelaide and the Alumni Association office for their kind guidance and assistance especially with section of the contents of this magazine. I would like to thank our Executive Committee members, our members, sponsors and guests. A particular vote of thanks to our major sponsors: KTS Holdings Sdn Bhd, Yayasan Sarawak, our co-sponsors: Forescom Sarawak Sdn Bhd, Clipsal (M) Sdn Bhd, the University of Adelaide and many other sponsors and supporters. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the Organising Committee members and staff of Netlnc Technologies Sdn Bhd for their support and for making this Souvenir Book and the Launching event a reality.

I sincerely hope that our members and guests would find this Souvenir Book interesting reading and reflection about the alumni experiences and a source of aspiration and information on the University, its international alumni network, on Sarawak and Adelaide.

With most sincere greetings and warmest welcome to you all at the SAUA Launching. To the SAUA members, our utmost gratitude for your kind support and participation. We warmly welcome with open arms all University of Adelaide graduates to join SAUA and participate in the activities to make a greater contribution and aspiration to our beloved state, our great nation and the world at large.
